Challenge

PEAC

The Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) program caters for the special learning needs of gifted and talented students in Years 5 and 6. PEAC is a part-time program, with students identified through testing in Year 4 and selected to participate in a range of innovative and challenging learning experiences.

Students are withdrawn from their regular classes to attend PEAC sessions, where they engage with like-minded peers in specialised learning environments. Victoria Park Primary School is part of the South Metropolitan Education Region PEAC network.

For more information about PEAC, please visit the South Metropolitan PEAC website: PEAC website (http://www.southmetropeac.wa.edu.au/)

Competitions

Australian Maths Competition

Each year around July/August we offer students the opportunity to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), a nationally recognised competition conducted by the Australian Mathematics Trust. The AMC provides students with the chance to challenge themselves through engaging and thought-provoking mathematical problems.

The competition focuses on reasoning, problem-solving and the application of mathematical skills beyond the standard classroom curriculum. It encourages students to think critically and creatively while competing for a range of certificates and awards that recognise outstanding achievement.

Victoria Park Primary School students have achieved excellent results in the AMC over the years, and we are proud to offer this opportunity for students to extend and showcase their mathematical abilities.

ICAS

Each year we offer students the opportunity to participate in the ICAS Assessments, an internationally recognised academic competition held in Term 3. ICAS provides students with the chance to challenge themselves across a range of subject areas, including English, Mathematics, Science and Digital Technologies.

ICAS assessments are designed to extend high-achieving students and recognise academic excellence. They focus on higher-order thinking, problem-solving and the application of skills beyond the standard classroom curriculum. Students who perform well are eligible for certificates and awards at a range of achievement levels.

Many Victoria Park Primary School students have achieved excellent results in ICAS over the years, and we are proud to offer this opportunity for students to further develop and showcase their academic abilities.
