PEAC
The Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) program supports students who demonstrate high academic potential and benefit from learning experiences beyond the regular classroom curriculum. Identified students in Years 5 and 6 participate in intellectually challenging courses designed to extend higher-order thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Victoria Park Primary School is part of the South Metropolitan Education Region PEAC network. Programs are delivered at designated host schools, community venues or online where required. Students are selected through a Department of Education identification process to ensure opportunities are matched to individual strengths and abilities.
Participation in PEAC complements classroom learning and provides students with opportunities to further extend their capabilities in a stimulating and supportive environment

Competitions
Australian Maths Competition
Each year around July/August we offer students the opportunity to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), a nationally recognised competition conducted by the Australian Mathematics Trust. The AMC provides students with the chance to challenge themselves through engaging and thought-provoking mathematical problems.
The competition focuses on reasoning, problem-solving and the application of mathematical skills beyond the standard classroom curriculum. It encourages students to think critically and creatively while competing for a range of certificates and awards that recognise outstanding achievement.
Victoria Park Primary School students have achieved excellent results in the AMC over the years, and we are proud to offer this opportunity for students to extend and showcase their mathematical abilities.
ICAS
Each year we offer students the opportunity to participate in the ICAS Assessments, an internationally recognised academic competition held in Term 3. ICAS provides students with the chance to challenge themselves across a range of subject areas, including English, Mathematics, Science and Digital Technologies.
ICAS assessments are designed to extend high-achieving students and recognise academic excellence. They focus on higher-order thinking, problem-solving and the application of skills beyond the standard classroom curriculum. Students who perform well are eligible for certificates and awards at a range of achievement levels.
Many Victoria Park Primary School students have achieved excellent results in ICAS over the years, and we are proud to offer this opportunity for students to further develop and showcase their academic abilities.
IMSS Music
The Department of Education’s Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) program provides selected students with the opportunity to learn a musical instrument through free weekly lessons delivered by specialist music teachers from the WA Department of Education. Students develop their musical skills through practical instruction, ensemble participation and performance opportunities, building confidence, teamwork and creativity along the way.
At Victoria Park Primary School, talented music students from Years 3 to 6 are offered the opportunity to learn Clarinet, Classical Guitar, Brass and Flute as an option to develop and hone their music skills.
