WA Positive Behaviour Support

At Victoria Park Primary we believe that all students are successful when the whole child is nurtured in a safe, positive and supportive learning environment where social and emotional well-being is respected and catered for.

WAPBS

WAPBS stands for West Australian Positive Behaviour Support and is a framework that brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures. The WAPBS framework assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children.

Behaviour Expectations and Matrix

At Victoria Park Primary School, we strive, show teamwork, are accountable, and are resilient. These four expectations form the foundation of our matrix, which explicitly states the kinds of behaviours we would expect to see from our students, staff, parents and community.

Some of the items we would refer to as procedures – behaviours we would break into smaller steps for students to follow, particularly in Early Childhood. Note that follow school procedures is listed as an accountable behaviour.

This matrix includes ideas and feedback from staff, our parent focus group, and our WAPBS team. Thank you to all involved for your invaluable input.

WAPBS Team

The purpose of the VPPS WAPBS team is to implement, through a consultative framework and process, a common understanding of behaviours expected in our whole school community. The beliefs, language and actions will be explicit, consistent, and clear. This will foster a safe, supportive and positive learning environment.

Team members: Kellie Rees (Team Leader), Travis Miller, Leisl Congear, Seda Drabble, Leanne Lee, Jake Snadden, Jane Locke and Lara Marciano.
